Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought them from, not by us.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep Premium access until then.

How do I restore Premium on a new device?

Open Assumptions, go to Settings, tap Upgrade to Premium to open the paywall, then tap Restore Purchases at the bottom. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account that purchased the subscription.

What does Premium include?

Premium removes ads and unlocks Today's News, the Translator, Perspective Exchange, the Deep Moral Foundations Profile, all Assumption Challenge levels, and Town Hall and National debate challenges. The free tier includes Daily Polls, Perspective Cards, Quick Quizzes, custom topics, Trivial-level challenges, and heart-gated debates.

I ran out of hearts. How do I get more?

Free users have a heart system that limits how many discussions can be started in a row. When you tap an empty heart, the app will offer two ways to refill: watching a short rewarded ad, or waiting for hearts to refill on a timer. Premium subscribers do not use hearts.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account and all associated data from inside the app. Open Settings, tap Account, then tap Delete Account. For full details on what is deleted and what may be retained, see our Delete Account page.

How do I change my email or password?

Open Settings in the app and tap Account. Email and password changes are managed through the sign-in provider you used to create the account (Apple, Google, or email).

How are debate partners chosen?

Assumptions is a single-player practice app. The "debate partner" you talk with is an AI assistant designed to argue from a different moral foundation than yours, not another real user. Perspective Exchange (Premium) is anonymous and asynchronous, and never connects you in real time with another person.

I encountered offensive content or a bug. How do I report it?

The fastest path is to use Settings, Send Feedback in the app, which opens a pre-filled email to our support team. You can also email help@bankedembers.com directly. Please include screenshots and a short description of what you were doing when it happened.

I am being charged but the app says I am not Premium.

First try Settings, Upgrade to Premium, Restore Purchases while signed in with the account that bought the subscription. If that does not resolve it, email us with the receipt or order ID from your App Store or Google Play purchase history and we will investigate.
